Product Support Engineer - Singapore

Job Role / Broad Overview

For an ambitious, self-motivated, computer literate person with excellent people skills, this provides an opportunity to join an award winning Customer Care team supporting customers in Global 2000 companies utilizing the Micro Focus technologies.

As part of the APAC Support Team you will be responsible for providing technical support to customers in the Asia-Pacific and throughout the world. This ensures that customers of Micro Focus can maximise the return they have invested in our technologies.

The position provides a great deal of variety, ranging from direct office-based telephone and e-mail support to off-site consultancy, pre-sales work, product demonstrations and seminars. There will also be a need to work closely with a wide variety of Micro Focus teams worldwide. The role is a diverse and dynamic role that involves a combination of technical expertise and excellent customer service skills.

There are also opportunities to provide technical account management to one or more of Micro Focus’ most valued customer accounts.

Job Tasks / Responsibilities

  • Answer customer inquiries regarding Micro Focus software submitted via the phone, web, or email.
  • Pre-sales technical support and advice to Sales Team.
  • Post-sales, office based technical support.
  • Occasional on-site customer engagements, such as support, consultancy and presentations.
  • Work with Research & Development team to track and resolve product bugs.
  • Contributes Knowledgebase articles for common technical issues.
  • Technical and critical account management.

Minimum Personal Requirements

This position requires the following experience: 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in software development with a BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Science or related field.
  • Good working knowledge of Windows and/or Unix operating systems.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, recognising cultural differences.
  • Ability to organise and establish priorities.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful.
  • Team player with an ability to work in a flexible manner.
  • Manage customer situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Fluent in English and must be to Business Level in speaking, reading and writing.

 

The following experience would be beneficial: 

  • Object-oriented design and programming.
  • Internet and Web programming e.g. J2EE, web services, ActiveX.
  • Computer networks, such as NT, TCP/IP, and/or Novell.
  • Relational databases, such as IBM DB2/UDB, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise computing environments/technologies e.g. COM/DCOM/CORBA.
  • Familiar with QA processes and have experience in at least one of the test automation tools e.g. SilkTest, SilkPerfomer, LoadRunner, QuickTest Professional, QALoad, TestPartner
  • Previous knowledge of Micro Focus and Borland products.
  • Additional languages, such as Mandarin.
