This new area of investment for Micro Focus needs people with the right mix of deep technical knowledge, enthusiasm and vision, and who are excited about bringing a new commercial product to market.
Role Summary
We're looking for someone with very superior RIA development skills; a person able to use their diverse experience across a wide range of technologies to help build the next generation of Micro Focus applications. Is able to work effectively in a Scrum environment and turn product visions into reality. Working side by side with the product architect to create well-designed, high performing solutions from complex, sometimes ambiguous, requirements is an important start; however, we need someone interested in helping to develop the product vision as well. This is a critical role in ensuring we successfully launch a new product that takes Micro Focus in a completely new direction.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates as a key member of a high performing Agile team; Scrum highly desired
- Thinks creatively as well as identifying and demonstrating innovative solutions
- Communicates effectively and collaboratively across all levels of the organization, especially product management, marketing, and development groups
- Develops highly scalable, high performing, interactive, enterprise level web applications
- Works seamlessly across all layers of the application from back-end databases and SDK through to the RIA web UI
- Defines development standards for object-oriented practices and working with the team to implement properly
- Develops / enhances enterprise multi-tier web applications
- Analyzes and tunes applications for performance in highly complex systems with build automation, continuous integration, automated testing and software quality
Required Education and/or Experience
- B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical area or the equivalent and 6+ years' software development experience in RIA.
- Extensive knowledge of REST, Java technologies and strong command of web standards, CSS based-design, and browser technologies.
- Experience with web services technologies and has comparative understanding of REST and WSDL-based services
- Experience working with as many of the following tools and languages is highly desirable: Java, Spring, JSON, JAX-RS, Eclipse, Maven, Flex, Action Script, HTML 5, Tomcat, Blaze DS, StarTeam, SaaS
- Excellent communication skills
- Passion for producing "brag worthy" applications
- True interest in technology with an obvious focus on continually building and sharing knowledge
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic team environment while effectively negotiating team priorities with external groups
- Live in Austin, TX or consider relocation opportunities to Austin
Desired Knowledge and Skills
Considered a plus:
- Working knowledge of database relational design, data normalization and experience with JDBC/ODBC, ADO, ADO.NET technologies
- Experience with large databases and/or data warehouses (Oracle or SQL Server) and knowledge of standard methodologies
- Experience with multi-dimensional data modeling, BI, OLAP and asynchronous ETL processes
